Our council home building programme, Greenwich Builds, will continue to move forwards following the awarding of a £38 million grant by the Mayor of London.

This additional funding is part of the new Affordable Homes Programme, and all the homes will be let at London Affordable Rent to local residents on the council’s housing waiting lists.

Greenwich Builds is one of the most ambitious Council home-building schemes ever seen in the area and has seen over 350 council homes now under construction, with the first tenants having moved into completed homes earlier this year.

Councillor Anthony Okereke, Greenwich Labour’s Cabinet Member for Housing, said:

“Housing is a priority for this Council, and our Greenwich Builds programme will deliver over 750 truly affordable, sustainable and efficient new council homes across the borough. This investment from our Labour Mayor of London will help to build the houses we need to provide for people on our housing list.”

Greenwich’s Labour Council is building the council houses our area needs, while maintaining high-quality and efficient standards to meet our targets, including on being more environmentally sustainable.
